My Journey

From a young age, I had big dreams—at 13, I was already planning my escape to Victoria to open my own salon. At 17, armed only with a pink duffel bag and my dreams, I stepped off a Greyhound bus into the unknown. With no job, no home, and no clear plan, I embarked on a journey that would shape my future in unexpected ways.

Thanks to a stroke of luck, I quickly found both a job and a home. But the real turning point came when my friend, Stephanie, left her job at the mall to work at TD Bank. As she was building her client base, I became one of her first clients. Little did I know, this would change my life forever.

During our first meeting, Stephanie discovered that I had virtually no financial literacy, in fact, my finances were a mess. She took it upon herself to guide me towards my goal of owning a salon by the age of 30 through saving, building credit and investing. With her support and guidance, I was able to open my own salon, TEN FIFTEEN BEAUTY, at just 27.
